You may need an online tool to help you build your website. The greatest advantage now is that you do not have to download any programs onto your computer, thus saving space and at the same time being safer. Unfortunately there are often pop-ups to contend with.

Image Optimizers (optimisers)
Many people have great trouble in getting their images crunched down to a size which is easily used on the net. We have all visited sited which take so long to load we move on before it does. The best web photos are those which have still retained optimised quality but which are small enough to load quickly.
Image Optimizer - Dynamic Drive have a great image optimizer ("optimiser" in UK English). On our tests this gave a great crunch-down giving us 60% savings. We would rate this 8/10 for ease of use and crunchability.
Spinwave - spinwave has an online free image crunching facility. Just click on the link then choose between jpg or gif, browse your computer to upload and then crunch. This allows for up to 30% compression on the free version. We rate this as 6/10.

There are many sites offering free graphics. We have not yet decided which we like the most, however there are a couple which we have found useful.
Gradient Image Maker - from Dynamic Drive. A well presented and useful tool.
